Alfa Kat's colorful and youthful character blends with amapiano production for an explosive musical sound rooted in kwaito, amapiano's ancestor. Born in Mafikeng, Alfa is also a modern ambassador of motswako, a South African hip-hop subgenre characterized by an unbound approach to blending different genres, as pioneered and championed by the likes of HHP, Morafe, and Cassper Nyovest. Though he's not an MC in the traditional sense, hip-hop forms a huge part of Alfa Kat's music and attitude. He's worked with fellow new school South African rap artists like 031choppa and Phantom Steeze, as well as amapiano artists such as Banaba'des, with whom he collaborated in 2020 on the viral dance-birthing record,
