Air Max '97 slightly tempers his usual genre chaos to deliver a 3-track EP of fervent sorta-techno gear. The title track 'Enthusiast' is a love letter to Bergiez, cultivated from a fecund seed of inspiration planted during a good munt at the club in 2019 with Steffi at the helm. With heart aerobically pumping on sleeve, Air Max '97's obsessional focus falls on the durational axis, toying with fractional slippages in phrasing that see synths arriving on time and departing late, hihats jumping from the off beat to the on, and other such mischief. Don't mistake this for tidy tool techno though — each tune suffers horrendous breakdowns and decadent lashings of macabre sound design. Oh and good luck playing 'Work to Live': the downbeat is missing. The EP is accompanied by a rare offering of merchandise for the Air Max '97 enthusiast, including a football scarf and t-shirt designed in collaboration with artist Endless Prowl.
